According to the complaint, the company made false and misleading statements to the market. Affirm tweeted some metrics from its second quarter 2022 financial report at around 1:15 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2022. The social media post described the company’s quarter as very successful, including a 77% increase in revenue. The company later deleted the tweet, and the eventual release of its full second-quarter report showed a loss of $0.57 per share compared to analyst expectations of $0.37 per share. Shares of the company then fell about 32% from their intraday high. Based on these facts, the Company’s public statements were false and materially misleading. When the market learned the truth about Affirm, investors suffered damage.
